RoseMary Robbins passed away at her home in Georgetown, Texas on April 21, 2018 with husband John at her side.RoseMary was born in 1923 in Muskegon, Michigan. The family later moved to Sparta, Michigan. In 1941 she graduated from Sparta High School, and then attended and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Sciences from Michigan State University in 1945.Her first job was with American Airlines. She trained in New York City, and then worked in Detroit, Michigan and Chicago, Illinois. It was in Chicago that she met and married her first husband, Dr. William D. Robbins. They moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where he finished his studies and residency and she then worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. Bill later established a medical practice in Lenox, Iowa, until his untimely death in 1956 at age 31, of congestive heart failure. A few years later RoseMary married John Robbins, and they remained in Lenox, and had a son, Marty.John and RoseMary and family moved to Ankeny, Iowa in 1966. John worked at Allied Mutual Insurance, and she worked in the personnel department at Montgomery Ward and as a wife and mother to six children and many grandchildren.In 1986 they retired and moved to Georgetown, Texas. She spent many memorable times with son Bill and family in San Antonio, at their home, Padre Island, and Horseshoe Bay. They also traveled to Hawaii, Banff National Park, to see the other children and families, and various other destinations, including fishing, boating and more. RoseMary was always happy attending and being involved in their local church, St. Helen’s Catholic Church, and she was an active member and Past President of the Georgetown Red Poppy Club.She also loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. Gardening, reading and making her custom Rosie’s cards on the computer to cheer and celebrate others, was a favorite pastime as well. She wanted to thank her Drs., husband John, children, neighbors Amy and Greg, granddaughter Kelly Conard, and all dear caregivers for their time, love and wonderful care. Mostly she cherished the 24/7 care of her husband John. He was the very best caregiver. Also love and thanks to all family and many dear friends for all their love, good times, and help in the later years.She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. William D. Robbins, her parents Charles H. and Rose Warren, sister Joan Parsons, brother Donald C. Warren, and brother Lt. j.g. James A. Warren (Navy pilot shot down on his 40th mission, and died 6 months later in Japanese prison). Additionally she is predeceased by daughter, Shari Lynn Robbins-Atkinson.RoseMary is survived by her loving husband John of sixty years, daughter Shelly Steele and husband Jeff, son Dr. William Robbins and wife Lynn, son James M. Robbins, son John C. Robbins and wife Donna, son Marty Robbins and wife Jolene, 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and many loving friends. Celebration of Life Services will be on Thursday April 26, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Helen’s Church and refreshments and visitation with the family afterwards in St. Rita’s Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to “Easter Seals Camp Sunnyside” 401 NE 66th Ave, Des Moines, IA 50313 in honor of son Jim.
