Deloris (Dee) Jean Norton, 70
Deloris (Dee) Jean Norton, 70, of Lenox, IA passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Sun. Aug. 8, 2021.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. Sunday, August 22, 2021, at the Lenox Community Center in Lenox, IA. Burial will take place in the morning before the Celebration of Life with family only.
Dee was born May 12, 1951, to Donald and Doris (Burgher) Hinton in Mt. Ayr, IA. She graduated high school in Lenox, IA in 1969. Following school, she married Ed Jackson on December 7, 1969, in Lenox, IA. They had two sons, Kurt and Keith. She remarried to Jay Norton on June 2, 1982, and the family moved back to the Lenox/Sharpsburg area.
Dee enjoyed being outside gardening and was known for her baking and pastry abilities by many in the Lenox area. She loved riding on the motorcycle and camping with her husband Jay. She also loved her animals over the years and was survived by her latest pets Rose (dog) and Muffin (cat). Both have found great new homes and are being loved well. Dee worked as a waitress at many different restaurants over the years and was known for her customer service and friendliness. She had a time where she also ran a daycare out of her home where many youth and parents in the area had a chance to know and love Dee for the servant she was.
She is survived by her husband, Jay of Lenox, IA; children, Kurt(Tatia) Jackson of San Antonio, TX; Keith(Chantelle) Jackson of Ashland, NE; grandson Trey Jackson of Sun Prarie, WI and grandson Zeke Jackson of Ashland, NE; mother, Doris Hinton-Drake of Mount Ayr, IA; siblings, Daryl(Cyndy) Hinton of Postville,IA; Debbie(Scott )Alley of Slater,IA; Brother-in-law Ralph Smith of Walford, IA ; and many more nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Dee is preceded in death by her father, Donald and her sister, Donna.
