Memorial celebration of life services for Wilma Boswell, who passed away Friday, October 28, 2022, at the Lenox Care Center, will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Lenox United Presbyterian Church. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Memorials may be directed to the Lenox United Presbyterian Church.    Memories can be shared with the family at  www.ritchiefuneralhome.com.  Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Lenox, where we ‘Celebrate Life’.
Wilma Nadean (Brown) Boswell was born near Cromwell, Iowa on January 19, 1930, the daughter of Virgil S. and Mary (Doran) Brown of Prescott. At the age of 3 in 1933 her family moved to the Stringtown Community located on Highway 34 near old Highway 49. She went to grade school about a mile south of the corner of 34 and 49. At the age of 10 she was baptized and joined the Stringtown Federated Community Church. She graduated from Prescott High School in 1947. After graduation she enrolled in the Commercial Extension Business School in Omaha, Nebraska to prepare for secretarial work. On September 4, 1949, she was united in marriage to Earl Clifford Boswell of Mount Etna, Iowa. They were blessed with the birth of two children, Alan Clifford and Daniel Brian. The family lived in Treynor, Iowa from 1961 to 1985. She worked as a secretary at Northern Natural Gas Company for 24 years. In 1986, when the couple retired from working, they moved to a farm near Thayer, Missouri. After Earl’s death in 2001, she moved to Lenox in April of 2002.
Wilma attended the United Presbyterian Church in Lenox where she served as secretary for a number of years for the Women’s Ups Circle. She played church music and choir music part of the time, and while living in Lenox, she entertained at the care centers singing with guitar and piano and playing the flute.
Left to cherish Wilma’s memory is her son, Daniel Boswell of Lenox, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Ellen Grace Brown; of Lenox, Iowa; and Beatrice Boswell Bixler of Counsel Bluffs, Iowa; nephews Byron (Marilyn) Brown of Prescott; John Beran of Lenox; Stanley (Jolene) Brown of Lenox; Stephen Brown of Lenox; David Brown of Lenox; Roger Brown of Tampa, Florida; Jim Brinker of Pemberville, Ohio; Carlton Brinker of Lucky, Ohio; Fariel Brinker; Jim Bixler of Underwood, Iowa; Jeff Bixler of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Joe Bixler of Treynor, Iowa; nieces, Marilyn (Paul) Brokaw of Lenox; Elaine (Carl) Israel of Lenox; Charlene (Mike) Heidt of Marshallville, Georgia and Laura (Loren) Scholl of Prescott.
Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Mary Brown; an infant sister; her husband, Earl in 2001; her son, Alan Boswell in 2009; three sisters-in-law, Lillian Brown, Marie Brown and Bernice Brown; a sister, Thelma Brown Brinker; two nieces, Carolyn Brown Beran and Carene Brown Sullivan; and a nephew, Norvan Brown; four brothers, Austin, Darrel, Roscoe and Delman.
May Wilma be at peace in God’s loving care.
