Interment was held in the Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given in Patty’s name.
Patricia Lynn Volkmar, was born September 16, 1957, in Maryville, Missouri the daughter of Roy and Anna Mae Volkmar. She grew up in the Bedford area attending school, graduating with the Class of 1976 from Bedford High School.
Patty met Mark Weese while she was working at the Primetime Steakhouse & Lounge in Lenox and on July 19, 1986, the couple was united in marriage at the Presbyterian Church in Bedford. To bless this loving union, two children were born, Victor and Elizabeth. The family continued to live in Lenox and Mark continued working for Terra. In 1989, they moved to a farm East of Bedford until her passing.
In 1993, Mark and Patty purchased Bedford Building Supply. Together they built a strong and thriving business servicing many area communities. Patty continued to grow the hardware portion of the business, doing her best to fill any gaps in the Bedford Community. “The Shop” has been operated by her family for over 75 years.  She was very proud to be a part of that and her contributions.
Patty was a strong woman who dearly loved her children, her furbabies, her friends, and her community.   She was so proud of her family’s successes in life and supported them whenever she could.
Patty was active on the Matura Board and other appointed positions, both local and statewide. She donated time to the Taylor County Fair, Lions Club, 4th of July Parade, Ahrens Memory Garden, Tinker Tots events, committee to plan the new law enforcement center, Bedford’s 100 dollar club, Pheasants Forever Banquet, and countless other community events.  Patty was always ready for a new community project. She would always say, “What do you want me to do?” and you could count on her doing her part in either contacting volunteers, giving of her time, or donating money or merchandise. She truly believed in doing her part to make the community the best it could be.
The RTBs (if you need the acronym explained, don’t worry about it)  was an important part of her life the last 10 years or so as it was to everyone in the group. Together they celebrated birthdays and Christmas every year and weekend shopping trips until Covid hit. Patty earned her nickname from the RTBs of “Shotz” because they always had to do shots at the end of the evening.
Left to cherish Patty’s memory are her children Victor Weese of Wellman, Iowa and Elizabeth Weese of Chicago, Illinois; her loving Friend Mark Gregory of Bedford; along with her brothers, sister-in-law, several nieces, nephews, relatives, RTBs and many, many friends.
Preceding Patty in death is her late husband Mark Weese, her maternal and paternal grandparents; her father Roy Volkmar, mother Anna Mae Volkmar; her in-laws, Dean and Mary Weese, and Mike and Jerolyn Weese.
Patty was a great, caring woman, pillar of the community,  and could warm anybody’s soul with her smile.  For anybody that was close to her she will always be loved, forever be missed, and never be forgotten.
Patty had been battling cancer of multiple diagnosis for many years, but always kept her head up and moving forward. She took advantage of every adventure and opportunity she was able.  Even through her last days her attitude never wavered and can be very accurately summarized by this quote:  “Don’t be sad for me, we all come to this world to be tourists, enjoy life, go sightseeing, do good deeds. I  just so happen to be leaving earlier than others.”
