Funeral Celebration of Life Services for Betty Campbell, age 93, of Lenox, who passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022 at the Lenox Care Center was held Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Lenox United Methodist Church. Visitation was held Monday at the Ritchie Funeral Home from 4 to 7. Interment at North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Memorials may be directed to the church. Memories may be shared with the family at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under Obituaries. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Bedford where we ‘Celebrate Life’.
Betty Mae (Bartrem) Campbell was born April 21,1929 in Lenox, Iowa the daughter of Lloyd Bartrem and Edith (Crispie) Bartrem. She grew up with three brothers, Melvin, Ronald and Donald, and three sisters, Melody, Nancy and Norleta. She attended Lenox High School until eighth grade, when the family moved to Omaha, Nebraska. In 1946, the family returned to Lenox and in August of 1946 she was united in marriage to Lewis Reed. To this union nine children were born, Linda, Ellen, Jim, Jeanne, Dennis, Denise, Tom, Jane, and Diana. The family lived east of Lenox on a farm until the couple divorced and Betty moved to town and got her GED and went to nursing school. She worked for thirty years as an LPN at the Lenox Care Center where she loved her duties and caring for the residents.
Betty married George Isman and together they enjoyed fishing and camping. The couple divorced after fifteen years. Betty then met Bob Campbell while square dancing and the couple were married in 1992. Bob passed away in 2008. Betty belonged to the Sharpsburg Quilters sewing many quilts for people in need. She was a member of the community singers and Legion Auxiliary.
Left to cherish Betty’s memory are her nine children, Linda Clayton (Larry) of Thayer, Iowa; Ellen Lee of San Diego California; Jim Reed (Tina) of Lenox, Iowa; Jeanne Clark of Omaha, Nebraska; Dennis Reed of Lenox, Iowa; Denise Fuller of Creston, Iowa; Tom Reed (Jan) of Lenox, Iowa; Jane Glup of Omaha, Nebraska; Dina Petty (Jim) of Leon, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; a sister Melody Bartrem of Council Bluffs, Iowa; twin brothers, Ron and Don Bartrem of Omaha, Nebraska; along with many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Preceding Betty in death is her husband Bob Campbell; parents Lloyd Bartrem and Edith McCormick; two sisters, Norleta Reed and Nancy Rusco; a brother, Melvin Bartrem; a brother-in-law, Jack Rusco; a son-in-law, Dave Gulp; three grandsons, Michael Rice, Robin Armstrong and Jason Clayton; and a granddaughter, Regina Reed.
Betty will be missed by her entire family.
May she be at peace in God’s loving care.
