County sets budget hearing

     Taylor County has set their budget for the 2023-24 year but not without some challenges.
     The state legislature made an error in the rollback on the 2021 property taxes which gave more money to cities, counties, and schools than intended. This year, the legislature passed a measure fixing that mistake which reduced the property tax revenues by up to $133 million across the state. This measure was passed after work began on budgets. To give time to work through the budget process, the state extended the deadline for budget certification to April 30.
