A Memorial Cele-bration of Life Visitation for Jeff Wood, age 71, of Lenox, who passed away Friday, August 25, 2023 at the Lenox Care Center will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the St. Patrick Catholic Church Parrish Center. Interment will be held at North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox at a later date. Memorials may be directed to EveryStep Hospice or the Lenox Baseball Team. Jeffrey Dean Wood was born January 20, 1952, in Clearfield, Iowa the son of Howard Wood and Mable (Gaule) Wood. He grew up attending school in Clearfield, graduating with the Class of 1970. While in school he was active in baseball and football along with being a paper boy and working at E & E Grocery. On April 8, 1972 he was united in marriage to Cathy Votava at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lenox. The couple were blessed with the birth of two children a son Brian and a daughter Kim.
The couple made their home in Clearfield where Jeff worked for Heimke Construction putting up grain bins and at Taygold Cooperative for 37 years until his retirement. He then worked a few years at Sunrise Apartments in Lenox. He enjoyed coaching little league and baseball in both Lenox and Clearfield while his children were growing up. He was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed gardening and chasing his investments at the casinos! Together they enjoyed attending their grandson’s games. Jeff enjoyed visiting as he sat outside his home and talking on the phone to family and friends.
Left to cherish Jeff’s memory is his loving wife of 51 years, Cathy (Votava) Wood of Lenox, Iowa; his children, Brian Wood and wife Jen of Lenox, Iowa; and Kim Wood of Lenox, Iowa; one grandson, Cullen Wood also of Lenox, Iowa; seven brothers and sisters, Jim Wood and wife Kathy of Holt Summit, Missouri; Mary Jo Mains of Clearfield, Iowa; Linda Brammer and husband Al of Clearfield, Iowa; John Wood of Altoona, Iowa; and Lori Danielson and husband Terry of Creston, Iowa; Brad Wood; and a sister-in-law, Lynne Maben of Clearfield, Iowa; along with many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that he loved very much.
Preceding Jeff in death are his parents, Howard and Mable Wood; his father-in-law, Jim Votava; a brother, Jerry.
We will forever hold our memories of Jeff in our hearts.
