Tiger Baseball Gets Two Wins
The Lenox Tiger baseball team went two and one this week with wins over Murray and Nodaway Valley; and a loss to Mt. Ayr.
Tuesday the Tigers traveled to Greenfield to play Nodaway Valley. The Tigers scored one in the first inning, four in the second inning, one in the fourth/fifth/and sixth inning, and finally three in the top of the seventh to beat the Wolverines 11-9. Lenox’s eleven runs came on seven hits and the Tigers had two errors in the win. Lenox was extremely aggressive on the bases, stealing ten bags- Senior Laramie Stoaks stole four bases, and senior Dawson Evans stole three.
Stoaks started on the hill with Evans, sophomore Brogan Petersen, 8th grader Beckam Petersen, coming in relief. Dawson Evans got the win throwing three innings striking out seven.
At the plate the Lenox bats were alive with sophomore Wylie Brokaw and freshman Carson Reed leading the way for the Tigers. Wylie finished two for two with a pair of singles, two walks, and one RBI. Carson had two singles, four RBI, and two runs scored. Other hits came from Dawson Evans, junior Kenny Jones, Laramie Stoaks, sophomore Winston Adams, and sophomore Jackson Reed.
Wednesday the third Lenox handled Murray in five innings 13-3. The Tigers scored the 13 runs on ten hits and committed two errors in the lopsided ‘W.’ The Tigers scored three in the first, three in the second, three in the third, two in the fourth, and two in the fifth to close out the Mustangs early.
