David Eugene Beckett was born in Creston, Iowa on December 23, 1952, to Lester Herbert and Myrtle Geneva ( Price) Beckett. David was the 6th of 7 children.
David attended Lenox Community School and graduated with the class of 1971. David’s commitment to football was evident throughout high school, where he earned a varsity letter in each of his four years. He also participated in wrestling.
Throughout the years, David worked at various factories, retiring from Dalton Ag in 2019.
An avid outdoorsman, David loved hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden. He was also an active and dedicated member of the Arising Methodist Church in Lenox for many years, where he faithfully served as an usher and treasurer. He could also be found generously volunteering his time at their various church functions.
David is survived by his sisters, Imogene Mains, Lois Lamb, both of Mt. Ayr; Janice (Mike) Miller of Creston; a special niece Lori Mains (Tom Brokaw) of Lenox; and the best dog friend, Lady.
Preceding David in death are his parents Lester and Mrytle Beckett; grandparents; a brother Earl, in 2000; two sisters Leola Adams and Jane Sanburn in 2019; three brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.
