Charles Arthur Young, 76

Charles Arthur Young was born June 16, 1942, the son of Howard and Jessie (Read) Young in Madison County, Iowa.  He passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at his home in Lenox, Iowa, at the age of 76.
Graveside service was held Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa with Tim Maxa officiating. Full military graveside rites were conducted by Theodore J. Martens VFW No. 1797 of Creston. Interment was held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter.
Charles grew up and was raised in Madison County.  He graduated from Macksburg High School in 1961.
After graduation he was drafted into the United States Army.  He served his country in Vietnam from 1964 to 1966.
After the service, he worked for his father for several years.  He then moved to Lenox and began working for Tote Manufacturing until they closed.  Charles then worked for various construction jobs in the area.  He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, archery, and feeding his birds and watching them from his front porch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Viola Briney; and brother, Jim Young.
He is survived by his sister, Connie Dahl (Larry) of Orient; five brothers, Duane Young (Kathy) of Creston, John Young of Winterset, Raymond Young (Pennie) of Orlando, Florida, Larry Young (Harriet) of Winterset, Gayle Young (Faye) of Des Moines and Robert Young (Mary Jane) of Winterset; special friend, Jerry Calvin and his wife Sherri and their family; other relatives and friends.
