Jane (Zahnd) Golden, 77, residing at Pine View Manor, Stanberry, MO passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019 from complications related to Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born on August 18, 1941 in Oklahoma City, OK the daughter of Floyd and Dorothy (Latham) Zahnd. As a toddler, she was taken in by her foster parents Lelia (Dixon) and Albert Lauber.
On December 27, 1961 she married Jerry Golden in Savannah, MO, the love of her life.
Jane’s career was spent as a certified nursing assistant where she worked at hospitals and nursing homes throughout the Midwest. She was an extraordinary caregiver where she greeted every patient and their family with a warm and loving smile. Her last job prior to retiring was at the William Newton Hospital in Winfield, KS.
Her favorite hobbies were cooking and entertaining for friends and family. She was admired for setting a stunning dinner table to include lovely floral arrangements. Jane also loved reading, talking on the phone and needle work. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge, and was a member of a local card club. Jane also loved gambling especially the slots and video poker! She was a proud member of the Democratic Party and served as a local election official. Jane was a member of the Stanberry, MO chapter of Alpha Delta Masters of Beta Sigma Phi. Having her children and their family return home for the holidays was one of her greatest pleasures and nothing brought her more joy than baking Jerry his favorite pie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her foster parents; foster siblings, Jay Lauber and Doris Lauber; brother, Gene Zahnd; sister-in-law, Jeanette Zahnd and brother-in-law, Gene Golden.
Jane is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jerry Golden of the home; children, Danette (Tim) Hanson, Des Moines, IA, Kelly (Mark) Baines, Colorado Springs, CO, Pat (Trena) Golden, Colony, KS and Tracy (Jeff) Osborn, Stanberry, MO; grandchildren, Caitlin (Casey) Callaway, Kristen (Blake) Boone, Jessica Baines, Brenna Baines, Reid Osborn, Grant Osborn, Miranda Golden, Sarah Hanson, Adrien Hanson and Ryan Golden; great grandchildren, Rollin and Lennie Boone; sister-in-law, Georgia (Schaber) Golden; nieces, Sherry Golden, Sharon (Golden) Wedekind, Carla (Golden) Scheib and Linda (Lauber) Winklepleck and nephews, Curtis Zahnd and John Lauber and numerous cousins and family members.
Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4 at the First Christian Church, Stanberry, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Stanberry, MO. Inurnment will be held later. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Roberson Funeral Home, Stanberry, MO.
