Robert Dale Lockhart was born August 4, 1935 in Lenox, Iowa to Thomas and Alice Bolte Lockhart. As a child he attended country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Lenox High School Class of 1954. After graduation Robert farmed with his father and continued to help him until his parents retired. He then worked for a short time at the Lenox Sale Barn and farmed for himself until 1985, after which he began a career with the US Postal Service and worked there for 20 years.
He was a member of the Prairie Star Presbyterian Church and upon its closure transferred to the United Presbyterian Church of Lenox. He was a devoted 4-H member and enjoyed entering steers in AK-SAR-BEN and the Iowa State Fairs, and later became a leader for the Calvary Go-Getters.
On August 24, 1963 he married Roberta Lavon McClintock. To this union were born two children: Todd Jeffrey and Nancy Louise.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Cherishing his memory is his loving wife of 56 years, Roberta, of Lenox, Iowa; two children, Todd Lockhart of Bellevue, Nebraska, and his wife Deena; his daughter Nancy Silva of Jefferson City, Missouri; two sisters, Mercedes Richarte of Kerman, California and Mary Borland of Lenox, Iowa; three grandsons, Cole Lockhart, Zane Lockhart and Jordan Silva and two granddaughters, Drew Lockhart and Alexis Silva; three step-grandchildren, Erika Dukes, Connor Dukes and Blair Douma; brother-in-law Robert McClintock and wife Sharon, sister-in-law Sharon Fitzgerald, sister-in-law Marji Rogers and husband Bob, and several nieces and nephews.
Bob enjoyed bowling in mixed leagues with Roberta on Sunday nights and watching his grandchildren grow up. He enjoyed traveling, reading, and watching Westerns. ‘The Price Is Right,’ ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and a cold can of Pepsi were a must.
You are not forgotten loved one,
Nor will you ever be,
As long as life and memory last
We will remember thee.
May he rest in peace.
