On Tuesday, Jan-uary 12, 2021, Lorine Elizabeth Johnson, loving wife and mother of three daughters graduated to glory and is now walking the streets of gold in her heavenly home.
Lorine was born on January 24, 1932 in Plainfield, Wisconsin to Orville and Martha (Tiarks) Woodward. Lorine was the oldest of seven children. Lorine fell in love and married John Harm Johnson of Brookings, SD on December 29, 1951.
Lorine and John lived briefly in Brookings, SD where their first daughter Echo was born. They then moved to Wells, MN where their second daughter Judy was born. Finally, they moved to Wisconsin Rapids, WI where their third daughter Barbara was born. They stayed in Wisconsin Rapids for many years and raised their family there. They were founding members of Faith Baptist Church in that city. Lorine loved baking and getting together with extended family for wonderful holiday get togethers. Lorine worked at Riverview Hospital for many years as an Operating Room Technician and enjoyed going back to visit during any Golden Girl Reunion.
Lorine was a faithful Christian serving the Lord in her church by sharing her wonderful soprano voice. She sang many solos and also joined others in song to bless her church family. Lorine and John enjoyed raising horses with their daughters and eventually running a boarding stable after they “retired”. They had many “horse” friends that they have kept in contact with to this day.
John and Lorine spent many hours remodeling their various houses over coffee in the morning before doing the actual work themselves to beautify their homes. In the mid 90’s, John and Lorine moved down to Lenox, IA where they lived for many years close to their daughter and son-in-law, Echo and Alan Pierce. They continued to serve the Lord at the Area Bible Fellowship church in Clearfield, IA. After various winter trips to Arizona, they had planned to move permanently to Apache Junction.
Besides her parents, Lorine is preceded in death by her three brothers, Lawrence, LeRoy(Lena) and Kenneth(Carolyn). Lorine is survived by her husband John and their children Echo Pierce (Alan) of Apache Junction, AZ, Judy Gould (Jerry) of Las Cruces, NM and Barbara Rossi (David) of Chassell, MI as well as her sisters Alyce Kauss (Floyd, deceased), Elaine Vehrs (Bill) and her brothers Jim (Darlene) and Jerry (Colleen). Lorine is also survived by her two grandchildren Jon Meadows (currently in China) and Lorine Gould (Las Cruces, NM).
A memorial service will be held February 13th at 1:00 MST at Valley Baptist Church, Mesa, AZ and will be available to watch via live stream https://www.valleybaptistmesa.org/livestream.
