James (Jimmy) Rogers
James (Jimmy) Rogers passed away peacefully at the Clearview Home in Mt. Ayr on September 11th and went to be with his Lord at the age of 75 years. Jimmy was born in St. Joseph, MO, on November 9th, 1945, to Dorothy and James Deardorff. Upon the sudden death of his mother at an early age, Jimmy and his brother, Bobby, were adopted by their maternal grandparents, Harry and Catherine Rogers of Lenox, Iowa.
He is survived by his brother, Bob Rogers and sister-in-law, Marje of Gurnee, Illinois; his uncle, Gene Rogers, of Mt. Ayr, Iowa; his aunt, Patricia Rogers, of Summerlin, Florida; cousins, Becky Johnson (Dusty) of Fairfield, Iowa, David (Lori) Rogers of Huntersville, North Carolina, and Paul (Marie) Rogers of Deerfield Beach, Florida.
Jimmy was preceded in death by both of his birth and adoptive parents; his aunt, Darlene Rogers; and his uncle, Larry Rogers.
Jimmy was an avid Lenox Tigers fan. He was presented with a school letter jacket by the Lenox High School for his dedication to the sports teams. If there was a baseball, basketball or football game, Jimmy was there cheering the team on. He loved to go fishing with his Uncle Gene. He enjoyed collecting Elvis Presley and John Wayne memorabilia and had every record Elvis recorded. He was a big fan of the Lenox rodeo and getting autographs on his cowboy hat of all the rodeo queens.
A special thanks goes out to the Clearview Home and Hospice staff for providing excellent care to Jimmy during his stay with them.
A private family burial will be held.
