Cedric Nelson, 22
Funeral Celebration of Life Services for Cedric Nelson, age 22, of Clearfield, who passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023 will be held Friday, February 10, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Clearfield Christian Church. Visitation will be held at the Lenox Community Center Thursday from 3 to7 with the family greeting friends from 4 to 7. Interment will be held at Clearfield Cemetery. Instead of flowers, the family requests memorials be given in Cedric’s name. Memories may be shared with the family at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under Obituaries. Cedric James Nelson was born February 20, 2000 in Creston, Iowa the son of Clayton Nelson and Stacey (Strong) Sprouse. He grew up attending school in Lenox, graduating from the Lenox High School with the Class of 2018. While in school and shortly thereafter, he worked for Bryan Hamilton at Hamilton Repair. After graduation, he moved to Des Moines where he did a lot of dry wall work and also worked for Sara Dukes with the Grounds Guys. He began working for Iowa Select Farm and United Farmer’s Coop out of Clearfield. During most of this time, he was also helping his father and Grandpa Harold on the farm. Along with being a part-owner with his dad and brother working part-time for Nelson Applicators.
Cedric grew up in the family with a sister Cassidy and brother Colby who have fond memories of the teasing and taunting siblings usually have together. While in school, he participated in wrestling, baseball, football and basketball. He was a member of the Calvary Go Getters 4H Club. In 2013, Cedric gained four more siblings, Trenidy, Dawson, Kaylee and Brenna. Cedric was an avid hunter who also enjoyed fishing and most recently golf!
Left to cherish Cedric’s memory is his father, Clay Nelson and wife Angie of Lenox; his mother, Stacey Sprouse and husband Mark of Lenox; siblings Cassidy, Colby, Trenidy, Dawson, Kaylee and Brenna, all of Lenox; maternal grandparents Larry and Barb Strong of Norfolk, Nebraska; paternal grandfather, Harold Nelson of Clearfield; one great-grandmother Rita Kidd; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
Preceding Cedric in death is his paternal grandmother, Rebecca (Becky) Nelson in 2021; along with all of his great-grandparents.
Cedric was a free spirited young man
who embraced life, going full throttle!
We will forever keep his spirit alive through
our memories and the joy of his laughter and smile.
