Kay Karen (Shimer) Camden was born September 4th, 1941 to John Augustus Shimer and Mimi Versa (Chandler) in Creston, Iowa.  Kay departed peacefully in her sleep January 25, 2024 in Bedford, Iowa at the age of 82.
She grew up in Creston with her 8 siblings and would attend school there.  On May 10, 1959 she married John Leroy Camden of Lenox at the Nazarene Church in Creston.  Kay and John (Jack)  were married while he was home on leave from the US Navy.
The two would then settle in Great Lakes, Illinois where Jack was stationed.  They would welcome their two daughters Karen and Juanita into the world during this time.  The family  would live in several different locations on the east coast when Jack would get relocated for duty. Kay stayed at home as a homemaker and would raise the girls when they were young while Jack was out at sea serving.
Kay and Jack would return to Iowa after Jack retired from the Navy.  They would settle in Lenox, Iowa so the girls could be near their grandparents and family.  Kay would join the workforce at Bunnomatic in Creston while the girls finished high school and would continue working there for many years after.
Kay had many hobbies including camping, fishing, hunting and riding motorcycles with Jack.  She would never shy away from playing board games and card games with friends and family and later grandkids and great grandkids.  Even when “Phase 10 “ turned into several hours she would play till the end.
Survivors include daughters Karen (James) Green of Bedford and Juanita (John) Buckley of Des Moines, sister Sandy Bolinger of Creston,  grandchildren Aimy, Leslie, Brian, LeAnna, and William, and many great grandchildren
Kay was preceded in death by her husband Jack, 3 sons in infancy, her parents, brothers Virg, Johnny, Albert, Dell, Jackie and sisters Cora and Mini Kathryn
We will forever hold the precious memories of Kay in our hearts.
May she be at peace in God’s loving care.
