Jamie Glen Peterson, 53
Jamie Glen Peterson, 53, of Lenox, Iowa, passed away on September 13, 2024, in Omaha, Nebraska, from complications of a stroke. A gathering to celebrate Jamie’s life will be held at a later date.
Jamie was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on May 5, 1971, to the family of Darleen (Wilmarth) and Roswell Glen Peterson. He attended Lenox Community Schools and graduated from high school in 1990. “Mad Dog,” as he was nicknamed in high school, served as the manager of the Lenox football team.
After high school, he continued his education at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa. As the fourth child of five siblings, Jamie helped his parents and siblings run the family farm and the family business, Peterson Floral & Gifts and Greenhouse locations in Lenox and Corning, Iowa. Jamie held many jobs in the non-profit and education sectors throughout his life, including several positions which supported individuals with special needs, including at the Mosaic community homes in Osceola, Iowa, and in the Creston Community School District as a paraeducator and crossing guard. Most recently he worked in the Lenox Community School District.
He was a gentle, generous and empathetic friend; a storyteller with a big heart who loved to make people laugh; and a lover of motorcycles.
Preceding Jamie in death were his parents, Roswell and Darleen Peterson; sister: Lorri Juárez; and nephew, Jacob Peterson.
Left to cherish Jamie’s memory are his siblings: Kim (John) Weatherhead, Jacksonville, Florida; Lynn Peterson, Lenox, Iowa; Chad (Marianne) Peterson, Lenox, Iowa; nieces and nephews, including Leslie (Kate) Revaux, Josh (Erin) Weatherhead, Matt (Maria) Weatherhead, Kristen (Eric) Weatherhead, Carter Peterson; other relatives and friends.
