Kenneth Bruce Pollard was born December 20, 1949 in Syracuse, New York. He was one of six children born to Harold B. Pollard and Genevieve (Dopp) Pollard. He grew up in Minoa, New York, graduating from the East Syracuse – Minoa High School with the class of 1968. In December of 1970, Ken enlisted in the United States Army. He attended Basic Training at Fort Dix in New Jersey. He was Honorably Discharged May 4, 1971.
Ken attended St. Gregory’s University in Oklahoma and the University of Wisconsin – Osh Kosh. After graduation, he started working in mining and road construction in Wyoming. He met  Megan Sherwood in Lusk, Wyoming and were united in marriage in 1977. The couple moved to California and Colorado, settling in Golden, Colorado where they were blessed with the birth of Kiley and AJ.
While living in Colorado, Ken worked for a microfilm company and worked in public transportation for the City of Denver. After moving to Iowa, Ken continued his education and worked in the fields of substance abuse, construction, and had many other experiences before becoming an over-the-road truck driver until he retired.
Ken was blessed with the birth of three grandsons, Jude, Jameson, and Jonah. He loved spending time with his boys, attending their sporting events, piano recitals, and going on adventures with them. He enjoyed attending Iowa State Football games and spending time with friends and family.
Ken was honored with the Quilt of Valor from the Lenox Auxiliary on November 12, 2024.
Left to cherish Ken’s memory are his two children, Kiley Sherwood-Pollard of Lenox, Iowa; and AJ Pollard and his wife Jenny of Ames, Iowa; his three grandsons, Jude, Jameson, and Jonah; one sister, Charlotte Smith of Marshfield, Wisconsin; two brothers, Gary Pollard of Otis, Colorado; and Norm Pollard and wife Regina of Stephens City, Virgina; along with many other family members, nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding Ken in death are his parents, Harold and Genevieve Pollard; brothers Don and Ron Pollard; sisters-in-law Carol Pollard and Cindy Pollard; brother-in-law Dave Smith; and life-long friend, Meg Sherwood.
