Randall Laverne Deardorf

Randall Laverne Deardorff of Mt. Ayr, Iowa formerly of Clearfield, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, September 28 at his home surrounded by loved ones.
Randall was born to Virgil and Ada Deardorff on May 14, 1959. He was welcomed home by his brother, Fred and sister, Virgia. He was later joined by his sister Lisa. Randall spent most of his life in Clearfield, Iowa. For most of his life he worked as a farmhand, helping with crops, cattle, and hogs. For a few years he had his own plumbing, heating, and electrical business until his health started failing in the early 2000’s.
He then returned to farm work until his retirement in 2020. Randy loved hunting since his childhood. He had a group of friends that he hunted with. They were always pulling shenanigans on each other. His brother Fred taught him how to work on repairing guns and reloading ammo. Randy loved riding horses and belonged to the Platte River Riders. He loved his grandsons and spending time pulling them in a cart behind the lawn mower and many other fun things that they always did. When they got older, he started to teach them how to shoot, so they could hunt and be safe. Sadly, that was something he didn’t get to finish.
Randy married his wife, Pamela, March 2 of 1991. They lived together in Clearfield for 28 years before moving to the acreage south of Mount Ayr in 2019. Together they worked tirelessly on rebuilding the house and working on improvements to the property.
Randy attended church at Crossroads Assembly of God in Grant City, Mo. Labor Day weekend of 2024, Randy was baptized by pastor Lynn Green. In a short time. Randy made several good friends with the men from church.
Randy is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents and brother, Fred Deardorff, nephew Christopher Hannover, and most devastatingly his grandson, David Fliehe. He is survived by his wife, Pamela and daughter, Sarah Overholzter Fliehe, grandsons Alex Fliehe and Aaron Fliehe of Humboldt, Iowa; his sisters Virgia (John) Ufford of Winterset, Ia. And Lisa Hannover of Casey, Iowa; many nieces, nephews; and cousins.
Burial will be at the Athelstan Cemetery in Athelstan, Iowa.
