Softball Slaughters Stanton

On Monday, June 22, the Lady Dawgs hosted Stanton for a varsity doubleheader. The Lady Dawgs were the visitor in the first game that ended with a 26-1 score after the fourth inning. The leadoff batter, Caroline SImmons, singled on a ground ball to third before eventually scoring on a passed ball. Charlotte Shafar singled to short before Aniya Hardee doubled to left on a ground ball and Shafar was out advancing to third. Danica Matheny hit a pop fly to center and an error by Stanton had Matheny at third and Hardee scoring. Zoey Nicholas was then hit by a pitch. Matheny and Nicholas both scored, respectively, on a Macy Musich ground out to put the Bulldogs up after the top of the first inning. The Viqueens were able to plate one run in the bottom of the inning for a 4-1 lead by the Bulldogs.
The Lady Dawgs showed great discipline at the plate in the top of the second, with six batters drawing walks. Tyla Hardee – twice, Kinley Beemer, Aniya, Eliza Johnson, and Simmons all walked in the inning. Shafar singled, Matheny was hit by a pitch, Zoey reached on an error, Musich singled and Shafar also reached on an error for a 13-1 score after the top of the second. The Viqueens went three up, three down and it was time for the Lady Dawgs to add to their lead.
Aniya reached on an error. Zoey then singled. Musich walked before Johnson reached on an error. Tyla then walked. Beemer and Simmons singled, respectively. Shafar then doubled before Aniya tripled and cleared the bases. Zoey then singled before Musich reached on an error giving the Lady Dawgs a 22-1 lead. The Lady Dawgs held Stanton scoreless in the bottom of the third.
Makayla Nicholas walked to start the top of the fourth inning. Simmons then walked. Matheny reached on an error that scored Wilmarth and Simmons. Ella Eischeid also reached on an error and the Lady Dawgs were up 26-1. Stanton was unable to add any runs in the bottom of the inning to make 26-1 the final score.
Simmons had 2 hits (1B), 2 walks, 2 RBI, and scored 3 runs. Shafar had 3 hits (1B-2, 2B), 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Aniya had 2 hits (2B, 3B), 1 walk, 2 RBI and 4 runs scored. Matheny had 1 RBI and 3 runs scored. Zoey had 2 hits (1B) 1 RBI and scored 3 runs. Musich had 1 hit (1B) , 2 RBI, 1 walk and 2 runs scored. Johnson scored 2 runs on 1 walk. Tyla scored 3 runs on 3 walks with 1 RBI. Beemer had 1 hit (1B) and 1 RBI. Makayla scored 1 run on 1 walk. Wilmarth scored 1 run. Musich was in the circle for the Lady Dawgs giving up 5 hits and 1 run while striking out 3 batters.
