Big slide is popular stop at Twisted Stalk

This girl catches a little air time as she goes down the big slide, the newest addition at Twisted Stalk.

Families visiting Twisted Stalk are enjoying several new features that have been added this year. They opened the last weekend of September and will be open every weekend in October.
Twisted Stalk was built 10 years ago and has been going nine years with one year off for Covid.
They have added a giant slide, a smaller version of the slide at the Iowa State Fair. The slide is made of repurposed plastic conveyor belting. Plastic sleds are used to go down the slide and astro turf at the end stops the sled.
They have added a new train and Dennis Hill will be doing carriage rides every weekend. Several new items have been added at the concession stand.
Goats, buffalo, calves, zip line, and the corn maze all return from last year and have been very popular.
Lincoln Calvin, owner, said they have made more cutouts for photo ops.
He employs 20-22 people during the season with about 15 youth and the rest adults.
“It takes a lot of time and a lot of work,” said Lincoln. As soon as one season is over, the crew is busy working on fun new things to add for the next year.
“I’ve already got stuff ordered for next year,” said Lincoln.
He estimates a couple of thousand visitors came through Twisted Stalk last year. His biggest competitor is the weather. If it rains, no one comes.
Twisted Stalk is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday through this month. Twisted Stalk sponsors: Agri Tech/Channel Seed, Agrivision, Barran’s Ag, Beemer Fisheries, Jack Brandon/Brandon Salvage, Bunge, Branden Cline/Cline Cattle, Dalton Ag, David’s Feed Shed, Kyle Wilson/Edward Jones-Creston, Ewart Insurance, Graves Forestry, Iowa State Savings Bank – Lenox Branch, Jason Butler/Farm Bureau Insurance – Creston, Ron Travis/Farm Bureau Insurance – Lenox, KSIB Radio, Michael Foods, Northwest Bank – Creston, Tyler Peterson/Peterson Painting, Morgan Maguire/Salon Jade
