Storms caused damage as they rolled through the county

Storms last Thursday morning took down trees and buildings, and left some without electricity. Wind, hail, and heavy rain hit the county early Thursday around 6:30 a.m.
The heaviest building damage, along with power poles, happened north of Lenox. Grain bins and pieces of buildings were strewn across the countryside. The amount of rain differed but the Lenox area had around 3” which caused creeks and rivers to go out of their banks and flooded fields.
Jeff Tull, manager, Lenox Municipal Utilities, said Lenox lost power due to the high winds northwest of Lenox. It damaged the transmission line that feeds the town of Lenox from CIPCO. The wind took down 22 transmission poles on 265th Street or H54 between Orange Ave West to Mulberry Ave.
