School board approves handbooks, student fees at monthly meeting

     Bedford School Board approved several items pertaining to the next school year at their June 11 meeting.
     The board reviewed student fees and lunch prices. They did not make any changes with the exception that reduced price meals will be changed to free meals.
     Principals Dana Nally and Michael Irvin reviewed handbooks for the next school year. The board approved elementary, secondary, Pre-K, and staff handbooks.
Nally and Irvin reviewed their building goals and indicators to meet the school district goals. Those goals are: all K-12 students will demonstrate high levels of literacy to ensure success beyond high school; all K-12 students will demonstrate high levels in mathematics to ensure success beyond high school; all K-12 students will demonstrate high levels in science to ensure success beyond high school; all K-12 students will use technology to enhance academic achievement; and all students will feel the educational environment is inclusive, safe, accessible, and caring.
     The board hired Jeremy Purdy as assistant high school football coach and approved Tecia Hardee and Carmen Perdew as volunteer volleyball coaches.
