City to move forward with asphalt project; discuss pool project
Lenox City Council approved to move forward with asphalting some gravel streets in Lenox and postponed approving a bid for the pool project at their June 22 meeting.
The council reviewed the list of gravel roads that could be asphalted in Lenox. The council has discussed this at several meetings, but this was the first meeting with a full council. The mayor did not want a decision made until all council members were present.
Allison Kitzman, city administrator, said the unit price may increase by 15% if they do four streets and 10% increase if they do all roads except Westwind. The 15% increase would be about $75,000. Tyler Peterson, council person, said he was in favor of asphalting Birch, Oak, Allen, and Nebraska Streets. One block of Michigan Street was not included because no one lives on that block.
The council approved to move forward on the road project for Birch, Oak, Allen, and Nebraska Streets.
